The EKPC Playbook Philosophy: A Unified Approach

β€œAt the Erik Kramer Passing Camp Foundation, we believe in building a strong, fundamental understanding of the game from the ground up,” says Erik Kramer, founder. Our EKPC Playbook Philosophy reflects this commitment. We provide one offensive and one defensive playbook for all ages and levels, from youth to high school, in both tackle and flag football. Recognizing that a solid base is crucial for long-term success, the EKPC Playbook Philosophy emphasizes basic fundamental schemes. This acknowledges the developmental journey of young athletes.

Age-Specific Considerations

Age-Specific Considerations

Our EKPC Playbook Philosophy addresses the unique needs of each age group:

  • Youngest Youth & Flag (ages 8 & 9): Offense initially focuses on a heavy run game with simple play-action and quick passes. Defense starts with the 4-3 Under/Over.
  • Mid-Level Youth & Flag (ages 10 & 11): Players continue developing within these foundational schemes.
  • Senior Youth & Flag (ages 12 & 13): Athletes further refine and understand the base schemes.
  • Frosh/Soph High School: Programs apply and expand the fundamental playbook at the high school level.
  • Junior/Senior High School: Teams experience the continued evolution and sophistication of the playbook.

Tactical Nuances by Level

The EKPC Playbook Philosophy incorporates age-appropriate tactics:

  • Younger Levels of Tackle Football (Offense): We detail the three basic run game schemes: Gap, Zone, and Option.
  • Younger Levels of Tackle Football (Defense): We explain the 4-3 Under and Over fronts and how to introduce wrinkles over time (safety down, Bear front, zone blitzes).
  • Younger Levels of Flag Football (Offense): We describe the age-appropriate passing game and the limited running game. Pass concepts expand with maturity.
  • Younger Levels of Flag Football (Defense): We detail the progression of coverages from basic zones and man to more complex Cover 2 man and Cover 4.

The EKPC Advantage – Long-Term Growth & Development

The consistent communication model utilized by EKPC coaches and student-athletes across all levels reinforces our core principles. Our program facilitates growth through increasing drill complexity, scheme refinement, and enriched special presentations over the years. As student-athletes progress, the value of recruiting assistance we provide also grows. Ultimately, the EKPC IVS has a long-term impact on participating programs, emphasizing the enhancement of communication, leadership, game understanding, skill levels, and opportunities beyond high school, all stemming from a commitment to the EKPC core identity.
